Dance Styles

  • Acrobatics
Some of the main skills learnt in an acrobatic class are hand and elbow stands, cartwheels, walk overs, flips and aerials. Strength and flexibility are also developed so the dancer is able to perform the skills more easily.

  • Ballet

Ballet is a traditional dance with a set of movements performed with skill, technique and grace. A ballet class anywhere in the world will follow a consistent pattern involving barre and centre work which develops strength, technique and flexibility.

  • Contemporary

Contemporary Dance requires the skills, technique and flexibility of a ballet dancer. It uses these skills to create movement and choreography that distorts traditional ballet and creates magnificent shapes with the body. Contemporary dancers create movement with the intention of making the viewer feel something in relation to what they are seeing. Contemporary dance focuses on choreography, a theme, an idea or concept.

  • Hip-Hop

Hip Hop is a super high energetic and fun dance style of its own and includes elements of popping, locking and krumping. It is typically performed to hip-hop, R&B, funk, electronic or pop music.

  • Jazz

Jazz dance combines the technique of ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz ranges from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Dancers can be seen performing beautiful jumps, turns and leg lines from the flexibility they gain from these classes.

  • Tap

Tap dance is making rhythmical sounds using your feet. To enhance the noise, metal plates are screwed onto a tap dancers shoes. Sound is then made by tapping the balls or heels onto a hard wooden or similar surface to create a 'tapping' sound.

Our highly trained teachers are well equipped to produce a fun learning environment as well as push the dancers to their fullest potential. The students will get to perform their skills at our year-end recital.
