ABOUT TAYLOR
Taylor Roper is a professional performer who has been dancing since the age of six. He is highly trained in Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Ballet, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre and hip hop. During his training he also studied in the music theatre program at Wexford Collegiate Institute for the Arts.
Taylor has worked for some of the industry's leading entertainment corporations. To name a few, he was a dancer, acrobat and aerialist for Royal Caribbean Cruiselines on the “Mariner Of The Seas” and the “Brilliance Of The Seas”. He was also a featured dancer in the cirque inspired show “Mystic Rhythms” at Tokyo DisneySea. Taylor has had the opportunity to dance for New York’s finest Patti Wilcox, Gabriela Rodgers at the Arts for life Gala in Mississauga, the Guelph Contemporary Festival, and The Bazaar to name a few industrials. He has also spent a year living in Belgium dancing in a reputable contemporary company and teaching workshops and master classes throughout Belgium and Holland. He was also featured on the television series “The Ultimate Dance Battle”.
As a competitive dancer, Taylor has captured numerous titles including Mr. Dance and Teen Mr. Dance of Canada for CDMA, Dancer of the Year for American Dance Awards and was also the highest scoring male soloist for can dance in 2007 and had the opportunity to travel and perform in Spain.
Taylor is a sought after dance instructor and choreographer for many dance studios, high schools and dance conventions throughout Canada. He also taught dance classes for the Toronto and Durham district school board. His students have won many regional and national titles and he has choreographed many award winning routines across Ontario. He is also currently a choreographer for “World Performers Canada”. Taylor is a certified member of the International Academy of Dance Adjudicators and adjudicates throughout Ontario, British Columbia and the United States.
His award winning choreography has earned his students countless awards at high level competitions including "Junior dance off winners" at Candance competition, "Top scoring routines" of entire competitions at Bedazzled, Starcatchers, Move, Dance Canada and many more, Nothern stars senior dance-off winners, Junior/Teen/Senior "dancer of the year " soloist winners at American Dance Awards, On the floor Senior ultimate dancer winner and runner up at the ultimate finals, and numerous Diamond choreography awards at American Dance Awards to name a few.
He is a firm believer that technique and creative style are extremely important in the development of a dancer. He challenges his students with his motivating spirit and creative style to bring out their inner potential. With his strong acrobatic background, he prides himself on creating athletic dancers with a strong and captivating presence.
